Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves: A Story for Kids

The Tale of Ali Baba and the Greedy Brother: A Lesson on Greed

Ali Baba Story:

Once upon a time, in a bustling town in Baghdad, there lived two brothers: Ali Baba and Cassim. Ali Baba was a kind and honest woodcutter, while Cassim was greedy and dishonest. They had very different ways of living, which shaped their fates.

The Secret Cave

One day, while chopping wood in the forest, Ali Baba stumbled upon a secret cave. He saw a group of 40 thieves standing outside, carrying heavy bags. The chief of the thieves shouted, “Open Sesame!” and the huge boulder blocking the cave entrance rolled away.

Curious, Ali Baba hid behind a tree and watched as the thieves entered the cave. After a while, they came out empty-handed, and the chief said, “Close Sesame!” The boulder rolled back into place, sealing the cave.

Once the thieves were gone, Ali Baba whispered, “Open Sesame!” to the boulder. To his amazement, it rolled away! He entered the cave and gasped at what he saw—piles of gold coins, sparkling jewels, and treasures beyond his wildest dreams.

The Greed of Cassim

Excited about his discovery, Ali Baba filled his bags with gold and rushed home. He told his wife about the cave and the treasure. They decided to keep it a secret.

However, Ali Baba’s greedy brother, Cassim, soon found out. When Ali Baba reluctantly shared his secret, Cassim couldn’t believe his luck. He rushed to the cave, but unlike Ali Baba, he was careless and greedy.

Once inside, he filled his pockets with gold, but when he tried to leave, he forgot the magic words. “Open Sesame!” didn’t work for him, and he was trapped. The thieves returned and found him, thinking he was a thief too. They captured him and sadly, Cassim was never seen again.

The Clever Slave Girl

Worried about Cassim, Ali Baba went to the cave to look for him. To his horror, he found Cassim’s body. Feeling sad, he didn’t want anyone to know about his brother’s fate. So, he asked Morgiana, his clever slave girl, for help.

Morgiana came up with a plan. She blindfolded a tailor and brought him to Ali Baba’s house. The tailor stitched Cassim’s body so it looked like he had died a natural death. This way, no one would suspect the truth.

The Thieves’ Revenge

Meanwhile, the chief of the thieves discovered that someone knew their secret. He sent one of his men to find out who it was. The thief followed Morgiana and discovered Ali Baba’s house.

He marked the door with chalk, planning to return that night with the other thieves to capture Ali Baba. But Morgiana was clever. She noticed the thief’s mark and quickly marked every door in the neighborhood. When the thieves returned, they were confused by all the chalk marks and couldn’t find the right house.

The Final Showdown

Frustrated, the chief disguised himself as an oil merchant and brought large jars to Ali Baba’s house. He hid his men inside the jars, planning to ambush Ali Baba. Morgiana, however, overheard their whispers.

Understanding the danger, she boiled oil and poured it into each jar, killing the thieves inside. Then, she approached the chief, pretending to serve him tea. Suddenly, she pulled out a knife and stabbed him, saving Ali Baba and her family from danger.

A Happy Ending

Ali Baba was grateful to Morgiana for her bravery. “You have saved us all! I will set you free and let you take as much treasure as you want from the thieves’ loot.”

From that day on, Ali Baba lived happily with his family, sharing his wealth with those in need. Morgiana was free and respected, and they all learned a valuable lesson about greed and kindness.

And so, the tale of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves came to a happy end.

Moral of the Story
