The Amazing Story of Jesus’ Birth – A Journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem
The Angel’s Visit to Mary
Story of Jesus’ Birth: A very long time ago, about 2,000 years, when King Herod ruled over Judea (now part of Israel), God sent the angel Gabriel to a young woman in the northern town of Nazareth. The girl, Mary, was kind, virtuous, and engaged to Joseph.
Gabriel greeted her, saying, “Peace be with you, you have been blessed by God.” Mary was surprised and did not understand. The angel reassured her, “Do not be afraid. God is pleased with you and has chosen you for a special mission. You will give birth to a holy baby named Jesus, God’s own son, and his kingdom will never end.”
Mary, though initially afraid, trusted God completely. “I live to serve the Lord. His wish is my command, but how will this be possible since I am not married yet?” Gabriel explained, “Your cousin Elizabeth, who was believed to be too old, is also going to have a child. God has a plan.”

Mary Visits Elizabeth
Mary said goodbye to her family and traveled to visit her cousin Elizabeth and her husband Zechariah. Elizabeth was overjoyed to see Mary, knowing she was chosen by God to be the mother of His son. The angel had already told Zechariah that Elizabeth’s baby would prepare the way for Jesus.
After spending three months with Elizabeth, Mary returned home to Nazareth.
Joseph’s Dilemma
Joseph was worried when he discovered that Mary was pregnant before their marriage. He thought of calling off the wedding. However, an angel appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. She has been chosen by God to bear His son. The baby will be named Jesus, meaning ‘Savior,’ because he will save the people.”
When Joseph woke up, he obeyed the angel’s instructions and took Mary as his wife.
The Journey to Bethlehem
At that time, the Roman Emperor Augustus ordered a census, requiring everyone to register in their hometowns. Joseph and Mary traveled about 70 miles from Nazareth to Bethlehem, as Joseph’s family was from there. The journey was slow because Mary’s baby was due soon.
When they arrived in Bethlehem, they couldn’t find a place to stay. Every inn was full. Finally, an innkeeper offered them a stable to rest.
The Birth of Jesus
That night, Mary’s baby was born. She wrapped him in cloth and laid him in a manger filled with soft hay. They named him Jesus, just as the angel had instructed.
The Shepherds Receive Good News
Meanwhile, in a nearby field, shepherds were watching over their flocks. Suddenly, a brilliant light appeared, and an angel spoke to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news! A Savior has been born in Bethlehem. You will find him wrapped in a blanket, lying in a manger.”
A multitude of angels appeared, singing, “Glory to God in the highest, and peace on Earth.”
The shepherds were amazed and hurried to Bethlehem to find the baby. When they found Jesus in the manger, they worshiped him and spread the word of the angel’s message. Everyone who heard the story was astonished.
The Visit of the Wise Men
When Jesus was born, a bright star appeared in the sky. Wise men from a faraway land, who studied old writings, recognized the significance of the star. They followed it to Bethlehem, where they found Jesus. Overjoyed, they worshiped him and presented gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
The Miracle of Jesus’ Birth
The birth of Jesus is just the beginning of a larger story. When Jesus grew up, he became a great teacher, performed miracles, and lived a perfect life. He was not just an ordinary man; he was the Son of God, born on Earth to save people from their sins.
This is the miracle Christians celebrate at Christmas. Jesus, God’s son, came to Earth as a helpless baby, but his life and sacrifice changed the world forever.

The spirit of Christmas is love—a time when love for God and fellow men triumphs over hatred and bitterness. It’s a time when our actions reflect the presence of God.
